Montreal art-savant Roy “Choyce” Vucino (CPC Gangbangs, PyPy, Birds of Paradise, Night Seeker) returns to the Slovenly Recordings stable with partner Hannah Lewis in a new installment of his acclaimed RED MASS project – presented by Slovenly imprint Mondo Mongo. For the uninitiated, Red Mass was founded by Choyce in 2008, and features an evolving cast of over 100 musicians appearing on more than 30 releases thus far. “E.P. Rouge N. 2,” recorded as a tribute to the French-German satanic horror drama “Possession” (directed by Andrzej Zulawski), features seven tracks of heated and visionary 21st century Francophone freak-rock on the top deck, with a sinister vinyl etching sprawled across the flip. Noxious experiments in extraterrestrial swamp-roar swarm the senses in “Confession d’un Chacal,” sounding like an inverted “Weird Love” era Scientists produced by SCIENTIST (the King Tubby protege, natch), and the vicious onslaught of “Infidèle” and “Noir et Blanc” deliver atom smashing space-punk prowess.
